FRENCH HORN MOUTHPIECES |
The "C" series of French Horn
mouthpieces is by far the most popular with symphonic players. The C-1 has a
deep, gently curved cup with a large bore and thin, rather concave rim. Very
comfortable with a powerful sound, the C-1 was originally designed for Jimmy
Chambers of the N.Y. Philharmonic.
The C-4, C-6, C-8 and C-10 are
identical to the C-1 except for gradually smaller bores, which will give a
little more resistance and require a little less effort. The C-12 and C-15
have, respectively, medium and medium-shallow cups, and are usually used for
the High F Horn.
The S-15 has a "V" or funnel style cups and smaller
bores. The standard rim for this models is thin and slightly convex (high spot
closer to the bite). Excellent for symphonic as well as chamber music, the S-15
was originally designed for Joe Singer of the N.Y. Philharmonic.
